Individual design

High-quality decorative enclosure, acoustically optimized, 30 mm wall thickness, damped with polyester wool and equipped with a stiffening frame to eliminate unwanted resonances, for perfect performance. Special BASH amplifier.

Special woofer

Impregnated cellulose membrane with a 50 mm voice coil, for high continuous load capacity and improved temperature management, resulting in a high maximum sound pressure level.

DSP – Digital Signal Processor

The electronics utilize a dual-core 28-bit DSP with a clock rate of 147 MHz to process the incoming audio signal with high accuracy and low latency.

The surround geometry ensures a high degree of linearity between the driving force and the resulting deflection in both directions, resulting in an exact reproduction of the recorded signal, even at extreme volume levels.

Aluminum sandwich woofer 

HEX Technology 

These long-throw woofers utilize a novel sandwich construction, consisting of a rigid yet lightweight aluminum dome sandwiched between two treated cellulose membranes bonded using a special adhesive technique. This design leverages the inherent damping of cellulose fiber membranes and the torsional rigidity of aluminum, resulting in a wide linear frequency response and deep bass.

All Reference subwoofers are equipped with an integrated wireless receiver. Connect up to three subwoofers simultaneously wirelessly using the optional wireless transmitter, which connects to your hi-fi system.

Subwoofer app control 

Placement made easy 

ELAC is considered a pioneer in app control for active subwoofers. Therefore, all seven Varro subwoofers are equipped with third-generation app control, which, in addition to automatic room correction, also allows for easy simultaneous control of multiple subwoofers. We've replaced the physical controls with our sophisticated digital control system. Simply download the Sub Control 3.0 app for Android or iOS, and you'll have complete control over multiple subwoofers from the comfort of your sofa.

Auto EQ 

Explained 

Finding the perfect subwoofer placement can be a challenge. With classic placement options in corners or next to the sofa, unwanted reflections, peaks, or dips in the frequency response can occur. ELAC's Auto EQ eliminates the room effect by mathematically subtracting the near-field measurement from the room measurement. This leaves only the room response. The measurements are performed using a real-time FFT with a resolution of 1 Hz from 20 to 200 Hz, and 16 filter coefficients are calculated to compensate for deviations from a linear room response. This allows the subwoofer to be placed in a wide variety of locations.

Finding the right placement for your subwoofer can sometimes be difficult, or the result might not be visually appealing. With the new Sub Control 3.0 app and the microphone in your smartphone, the subwoofer automatically optimizes the room correction. This gives you more freedom in choosing its position within the room.

Reinforcement 

BASH amplifier 

All seven Varro models utilize BASH technology. Frankly, there's no better technology for subwoofers. This tracking technology allows the amplifiers to be designed for maximum voltage excursion, yet always operate with only the necessary supply voltage, without converting power into heat. As a result, ELAC subwoofers play louder than other subwoofers with comparable specifications because virtually no power is lost.
